Don't Wait Until The Day They Are Installing Your New Air Conditioner, Prepare For It In Advance

Posted on

If you are going to be having a new air conditioner installed in the near future, you need to do a few things beforehand to make everything go smoothly. When consulting with the HVAC company, have them come to the house so together you can determine the best placement of the new unit. If you need to have part of the system inside and part outside, make sure you understand exactly what space will be required. Here are a few things you will need to do to make sure the installation goes smoothly, and the system will run at peak efficiency.

Clear the Areas

At least part of the system is going to be placed outside. Even if you are simply replacing an existing unit, you need to make sure the area is clear and accessible. If you have planted bushes or other plants in the area, they will need to be removed or pruned so the technician can get into the area and work. It would be better for you to move some flower than to have them destroyed during the installation. If you are installing a system for the first time, you should clear the area of all vegetation and have a concrete slab put in. The unit will sit on the concrete, protecting it from the dirt and keeping it stable.

Clean the Ducts

Whether you are having AC installed for the first time or are replacing an old unit, and it will be hooked up to the existing ducts in the house (meaning you are not going with a ductless system,) the ducts should be cleaned. Dust, pollen, dirt, mold, mildew, and other debris may be in the ducts. You do not want these things blown through the system and into the air you breathe inside. If necessary, contact the HVAC company and ask them to come clean the ducts before they come to do the installation. Not only will you breathe easier, but the system will run more efficiently too.

The better prepared you are for the new installation, the better the outcome will be. In addition to the above preparations, you should make sure that any pets or children will not be in the way of the technicians when they arrive to install the new unit. This will not only allow the work to proceed smoothly and without interruption, you won't have to worry about an accident because they got in the way of the workers.
